Here’s the thing about pizza: If you grew up eating a certain style, or from a particular restaurant, you’re likely loyal to that place. Well, if you haven’t been to Giordano’s– you’re in for a treat (and warning, you may switch your loyalty!) The family friendly restaurant is famous for their stuffed deep dish pizza and is one Chicago’s most popular pizzerias but they just added a few new items (some pizza, some not) that I am SO excited to share with you!
Full disclaimer- I am a sucker for deep dish pizza and that’s usually my go to when visiting Giordanos but with the addition of new items including spinach artichoke dip and unlimited soup and salad- I’m all about cheating on the ultimate deep dish cheesy pie once in a while!
Is Chicago too far away to travel to? Luckily, you don’t have to travel to Chicago to try Giordano’s because Phoenix is lucky enough to have 2 locations all to ourselves PLUS they offer amazing catering for any of your party needs (see the post about JZ’s birthday party to see what I’m talking about)
So let’s talk about the new menu additions.
Besides pizza, the restaurant now offers a gluten free cauliflower pizza crust and plant based sausage (thanks to a partnership with the Impossible brand) that are delicious and on the lighter side. Now I’m all for a good cauliflower crust, but let’s be honest- sometimes they are just not tasty. That’s not the case at Giordano’s. The crust is a great substitute for traditional gluten filled dough and the real test is if JZ will eat it. Sure enough, we all loved it and let’s be honest, I’m all about parental deception when it comes to sneaking veggies in your kid’s food.
It you’re not counting carbs, the new Parmesan Crusted Pan Pizza is a great choice. The kitchen uses the same deep-dish pans that they are known for and still features the perfect blend of buttery crunch on the outside. The new Parmesan-Crusted Pan Pizza is available in Margherita, Double Pepperoni, and Spinach Mushroom Alfredo or get creative and create your own pie! Another newbie to the menu is the spinach and artichoke dip served with toasted ravioli! How genius is that?
If you’re looking for a quick and lighter fare lunch, look no further than the All-you-can-eat soup and salad. Guests can choose from the House, Caesar, Greek, Italiano or Chopped Chicken salads and of course every one of them comes with Girodano’s signature Parmesan Breadstick. Flatbreads and sandwiches are a great choice for the lunch rush too- especially the new Chicken Arrabiata Flatbread with grilled chicken breast, shaved asiago and Giordano’s famous mozzarella cheese, along with arugula and baby heirloom tomatoes tossed in a house-made lemon vinaigrette. My mouth is watering as I write this!
One last mention about the pasta at Girodanos. The hubby favors the chicken alfredo with broccoli and our little guy LOVES the classic spaghetti. I personally love the new Chicken Pomodoro Pasta packed full of grilled chicken breast, heirloom tomatoes, and fresh spinach tossed in garlic and olive oil.
One thing to note when you go eat at Giordano’s if you have kids: The Deep Dish pies take at least 30 min. to bake so give yourself plenty of time or order your deep dish right away like we did (since our 5 year old has about a 30-40 min window of time that he can behave at a restaurant)
Ok, are you starving yet? I know I am!
