FOODIE FRIDAY: WEFT & WARP

August 2, 2019

Today I’m sharing a fun restaurant with ya’ll hidden within the Andaz resort in the heart of Scottsdale, just about a mile north of Old Town. To say I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the trendy restaurant is an understatement. Let me set the scene for you. The bar area serves as a central focal point and the restaurant feel more like a midcentury modern living room than a gourmet restaurant. But don’t get confused because the cuisine the glass enclosed kitchen turns out, is indeed gourmet and delicious thanks to an incredibly talented culinary team with a variety of backgrounds and experience.

Everything from the furnishings to the waitstaff are fashionable and approachable. Speaking of the staff, they deliver personal service with a laid-back charm offering conversation and menu recommendations.

Now let’s talk about the food! Here are my favorite dishes-

Crispy Cauliflower – I honestly could have eaten the whole bowl by myself. The crushed pecans and fresh chives are a match made in cauliflower heaven.

Compressed Watermelon Salad- This dish is as good as it is gorgeous. The use of local goat cheese, radish, and mint is perfectly served over a very densely compressed slice of watermelon. Perfect on a hot day in AZ!

Caramelized Onion Dip-Think of the onion dip you get in a can and then elevate it by 1,000 times! A creamy mix of sweet and salty, this dip is a must order. No wonder it’s so popular on the bar menu.

New York Strip Steak- Perfectly cooked and served with the most delicious southwestern inspired sauces, this steak is perfect to split with a friend. The mole and chimichurri flavors with the meat are A+

Ahi Tuna Tartare- Fresh Ahi is combined with mango and smoked chili aioli for a refreshin spin on tuna tartare.

All the dishes are designed to share and typically feed 2-3 guests. I highly suggest dining with a group and ordering a bunch of things to try. Weft & Warp serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a view overlooking the Turquoise Pool and Camelback Mountain- both visable from the beautiful Andaz Resort.
