The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, is well-known for its natural beauty and scenic value. The spectacular mountain terrain and star-filled sky has continued to wow guests since its opening. The five-star resort is tucked away in the heart of the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, AZ, surrounded by the seclusion of the Tortolita Mountains which makes for the perfect romantic getaway or girlfriends retreat if you’re looking to unwind away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel grounds and its wide variety of beautiful cacti are lovely. In the evening, the smell of fire pits fills the fresh desert air, creating a wonderful ambience.
The rooms and suites reflect the local landscape and Arizonan culture with Southwestern decorative flair and every room offers a view of the nearby mountain ranges, the Tortolita Foothills or the Wild Burro Canyon, and features a balcony or porch for optimal viewing of the gorgeous scenery. If you’re a golfer (which I’m not) you’re in luck: the Jack Nicklaus’ Signature Design Tucson golf resort at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain is one of the best in Arizona and just a hop, skip, and jump away! If you happen to like hiking, this property will for sure fill your needs. The hotel has in its backyard about 25 miles of trails with varying levels and elevation. You can go out for just 1 hour on flat lands or go out for a day hike on a 1,500 foot elevation. Views are breathtaking everywhere but let’s be honest, we all know I don’t exercise when on vacay so of course I skipped any type of physical activity except walking to the spa and to eat the delicious food on site!
The luxurious rooms and breathtaking views are not the only reasons to visit The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. The hotel’s staff is attentive, helpful, and kind. The waitstaff that tends to the dining area make the patio and fire pit eating experience both cozy and inviting. I highly recommend ordering sushi at sunset while listening to stories told by a local about the ancient civilizations that once roamed the very land the resort is built upon. Speaking of dining- don’t forget to hit up the pool side restaurant for the ceviche and watermelon pizza (literally- they press watermelon into a “crust”!) and the weekend breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve seen. Insider tip: Order a prickly pear mimosa for a unique spin on a traditional breakfast cocktail!
Besides being complete with amenities fit for the ultimate relaxation getaway. The pool and jacuzzis sit below the mountain range, just a short walk from the rooms. There is also a nice spa to treat yourself to, a game room for the kids, and nightly events to attend at the hotel. The pool at the spa is the ultimate in luxury and relaxation- plan to spend a few hours here before or after a treatment and don’t forget to arrive early to utilize the steam, dry sauna, and whirlpool! The staff offers food and cocktail service by the pool and you can also enjoy the use of a cabana should you need some shade, and we all know I’m an expert when it comes to staying out of the sun!
The hotel is truly a decadent addition to the desert in Tucson. Whether it be an over-night stay or a weekend getaway, Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain Resort will not disappoint!
