As the summer come the end, so do my local staycations. I have just a few more to share with you and tis next one is truly one of my favorites! Hotel Valley Ho is not your average hotel. If you haven’t been to the historic hotel before, the property was built in 1956 and was later restored to it’s iconic yet modern charm. It was frequented by many Hollywood celebrities in the 1950’s and proved to be a relaxing respite. Staying at the hotel felt like being transported into an old Hollywood film in living color. Yes, it’s located in the heart of Scottsdale within walking distance to all your favorite shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues but really- you don’t even need to leave once you check in!
I love how this hotel stays true to its 1950’s vibe but also exudes modern and contemporary flair. If you’re looking for a hotel that is nostalgic yet trendy, then add this property to your must-stay list of staycations!
Hotel Valley Ho has a variety of room options that will comfortably accommodate any length of stay. Guests have the option in staying in one of the hotel’s tower suites or can choose to stay in comfortable and contemporary room on the hip hotel side. No matter what you decide, you will definitely find a room that fits your needs (and personality!) The Tower Suite was the perfect option for our stay. It featured a full size kitchen, washer/dryer, 55” flat screen TV that swiveled for the perfect view, walk-in closet, over-sized cook tops plus a stunning view of the city.
I was surprised by not only how beautiful the room was, but the peace and quiet we had at such a hip and happening resort. No detail has gone unnoticed when it comes to the design aesthetic at this resort or in this room. I was impressed by all the little details that gave the suite so much personality while maintaining its nostalgic design. If you’re celebrating a special occasion this room is the perfect option. I was thrilled with the ginormous bed and comfy bedding because we all know how much I appreciate quality sleep!
The on-site restaurant, Zuzu serves American-fare and has a very popular weekend brunch and possibly even more popular Showstopping Milkshakes. If you have an Instagram account, you surely know what I’m talking about! #showstopershake
During my stay, I had dinner, breakfast, and of course a monster shake from Zuzu. The food at Zuzu was so phenomenal that I returned with a group of girlfriends there for a birthday dinner! Obviously the shake tasted as good as it looked with this month’s variety being milkshake version of a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie. Rumor has it October’s flavor of the month is an overindulgent banana split…OMG. Breakfast was terrific too- I kept it light with a smoked salmon bagel plate and the hubby had Eggs Benedict. We enjoyed everything and cannot recommend Zuzu enough! Be sure to order the chorizo stuffed dates (pictured below!) they are a game changer.
During the Summer, the hotel hosts pool parties on the weekends for hotel guests. If you’re looking for a more relaxed experience Hotel Valley Ho also has a quiet pool that’s perfect for swimming laps or reading a book- you know that’s where I hung out! The spa is also a great place to get some R&R. I didn’t make it there on this trip but I visited a few months ago for another story I was working on and had the most amazing massage complete with rose petals and exotic stones! I highly suggest checking out their seasonal treatments because they are always innovate and wonderful!
Whether you live here in the valley or are planning a trip to AZ I highly recommend making a stop to appreciate this unique little hot spot, even if it’s just to grab a milkshake, enjoy a date night or get pampered at the spa.
