Restaurant of the Week: The Living Room (and La Sala!)

August 14, 2017

Did you know you can order sushi, Mexican food, bruschetta, fresh oysters, and the best sangria in town all in the same spot? Well you can at The Living Room Wine Cafe and La Sala located within The Shops at Gainey Ranch (There are a few other valley locations links at the bottom of this article too!) Guests are invited to take a seat on the trendy Mexican themed side of La Sala or find a cozy spot on The Living Room side and have the option to order off either menu. The first time I dined at this concept, I took the hubby on a date and we went for the La Sala seating. The bright colors, eclectic decor, and funky drink menu set the mood for a lively date night.

We took advantage of ordering off both menus and ended up with a variety of burritos, sushi, Caesar salad, queso, and injectable doughnuts. Everything was delicious- my Cesar salad was one of the best I’ve ever had and to be honest I wasn’t so sure about ordering sushi in a Mexican food restaurant but it was outstanding! The hubby’s burrito was HUGE and the injectable doughnuts almost caused a lovers quarrel when it came to who was injecting what.

The second time we visited, we opted for the cozy and romantic Living Room side. When I say romantic, I don’t mean totally over the top mushy- it’s very charming and makes a great spot to meet up with girlfriends for wine and carbs (can you say warm Bavarian pretzels and mouth watering bruschetta?!) On this visit we indulged in enchiladas, shrimp tacos, and fondue. OMG, the creamy brie dipping sauce with roasted cauliflower and tart apples, need I say more? The signature creamy cheese sauce would probably even be delicious injected in to those doughnuts I mentioned earlier! The folks behind both restaurant concepts stay true to their mantra of “love, laugh, lounge” by providing a welcoming environment and delicious food.

Check out the great happy hour and make sure to put The Living Room and La Sala on your list of “must visit” places in the valley. For a list of all the Phoenix and Tucson locations click HERE.
