Floating Meditation at Current Meditation in Phoenix.

August 7, 2017

As if meditating isn’t relaxing enough, imagine being suspended from the ceiling “floating” in a silk hammock while meditating! That’s exactly what my girl squad (and a few guys!) did at Current Meditation’s Aerial class in Phoenix. As the first meditation studio for the modern world, Current Meditation offers a multi-sensory, experience, shattering all misconceptions you may have previously had about meditation. Their guided group meditation classes are offered in 45- and 25-minute sessions, so you can always fit meditation into your busy schedule. The curriculum is designed to offer you benefits throughout the day; If you come to a daytime class, you’ll leave feeling recharged and energized, while nighttime and weekends classes leave you relaxed and rejuvenated.

Walking in to the studio tucked just behind Doughbird on the corner of 44th St. and Indian school, guests are greeted by a comforting front desk staff and soothing atmosphere complete with living wall décor with the brand’s signature catchphrase “Be Current.” The decompression waiting area makes the perfect spot to unwind before and after your class and features beverages, essential oils, lockers for personal belongings, and a true sense of community. It’s amazing how your mind instantly settles when placed in the proper environment! After a brief introduction to the thick blue silks hanging around the room where we would exercise (our mind that is) we climbed in, laid back, and took a deep breath. The 45 minutes flew by, but I guess that’s what happens when you lose track of time being so chilled out and not thinking about all the things on your to-do list. Throughout the session, the instructor’s soothing voice guides the class for part of the practice, and the sound of the gong and crystal bowls fills the remainder. Post class is a great time to ask questions and take your time reconnecting to your busy reality that is life. (I encourage you to drag this portion out as long as possible and follow the advice from the Current professionals by being mindful in every moment.)

So, if you’re looking for a better way to calm your body, mind, and spirit other than a bottle of wine from Trader Joes and some Netflix, then I highly suggest you book an Aerial Meditation class at Current Meditation as soon as possible. Current Meditation offers your first class free. Visit Current Meditation’s website (www.becurrent.com) to learn more and book your complimentary class.
