Yes, I got my eyebrows microbladed!
If you’re on social media, you’ve probably seen and heard about a little thing called microblading- the hottest trend when it comes to beautifying your eyebrows! I think the biggest questions when it comes to microblading are: What is microblading and how is it done? Well, I took the plunge after researching the heck out of local salons and spas offering the service to find someone who has been microbrading natural looking brows for years and not just jumping on the bandwagon since the microblading fad took off about a year ago. I found my answer at Sassy Wink. (For the record, I rejected 6 other brow salons that wanted to work together because I did not like their cookie cutter brow work!)
My microblading expierence began in the lobby of the most adorable lash and brow studio in Mesa by filling out some paperwork and having a lengthy discussion with Amber, the owner of Sassy Wink about exactly what I was looking for. Some of the things I mentioned were: natural looking, a good shape, definition, and symmetry. She explained the options, walked me through the process, and we got to work! (Or should I say- she got to work. I just laid on the comfy spa table and may have taken a nap!) She did her thing which involved some measuring, stenciling, and drawing a map on my eyebrows. I was very involved the whole time and when we had the perfect shape and plan- she whipped out the numbing cream. I reminded her that red heads are more sensitive to pain so I might need extra cream- she reassured me it wouldn’t hurt and she was right! Now the fun part. We picked a good color to match my natural brows and she proceeded to dip her microblading tool (which looks like a surgical scalpel but in a non-scary way) in to the color then placed it on my brow. Working one stroke at a time back and forth from the color to my brow she created the effect of one eye brow hair with each stroke filling in the sharpie dot stencil we agreed upon earlier. After about 45 minutes I grabbed the mirror and VOILA! Perfectly natural looking brows that I couldn’t achieve with makeup if I tried. Overall, the process was painless, quick, and I’m happy to report the results were better than I had anticipated. I will go back in 6 weeks for a touch-up and the results will likely last up to 2 years. If you live in AZ and have been thinking about getting in on the microblading movement, I highly encourage a visit to Sassy Wink. Tell Amber I sent you and she might give you an extra dose of numbing cream 🙂
