What came first? The chicken or the egg? Who cares. All I know is that July 6th is National Fried Chicken Day and I am beyond excited to talk about the best fried chicken in the valley of the sun. Recently, I visited Southern Rail in Phoenix for the ultimate southern hospitality dining expierence. It went a little something like this: The cocktails are delicious and strong, you must order the fried green tomatoes with authentic pimento cheese and soft brioche rolls with homemade apple butter, make sure to save room for bread pudding, and of course the friend chicken is TO DIE FOR. It takes a certain culinary genius (aka:Justin Beckett) to turn out perfectly crispy chicken that is so moist (sorry to use that word), flavorful, and juicy. The mashed potatoes are equally impressive- do not eat here on a low carb day.
If you happen to visit Southern Rail on July 6th you will receive a complimentary glass of champagne with your fried chicken dinner in honor of the “birds and bubbles” event they are hosting. If you can’t make it down for that event, I highly suggest visiting on Monday or Tuesdays for BBQ + Bourbon. $25 gets you a platter of Chef Beckett’s BBQ (meat and fixin’s) plus 2 glasses of bourbon or a bottle of wine (from a select list)! Bring a friend to share with, but nobody is judging if you want to indulge solo! The lunch menus is awesome and they offer weekend brunch so pick an option, indulge in some southern hospitality, and make your way over to Southern Rail ASAP!
