Over Father’s Day weekend my family and I checked into the new Mountain Shadows resort in Paradise Valley for a weekend of luxurious fun and incredible cuisine. I have to admit, the Mountain Shadows I remember from my childhood is nothing like the revamped version that now sits at the base of Camelback Mountain. It’s nice to see they kept some of the history alive with throwback pictures of the property in each guest room and slightly retro but incredibly updated architecture throughout the resort. We spent most of our time splashing in the pool centrally located within the resort next to the fresh pressed juice bar. Of course with fantastic views of the mountains surrounding the property- this pool is now one of my favorite spots to stay cool in the valley. (No, you won’t find a DJ and Jersery Shore fist pumping going on here thank goodness)
The guest rooms are spacious and sexy- especially the tub and the shower, but you will have to check those out on your own. (I’ll give you a clue: the bathtub has it’s own room!) The thing I love most about Mountain Shadows is the unpretentious but total luxurious atmosphere that is reflected from the moment you pull into valet to the last drink at the bar. Speaking of the bar…oh my gosh, the cocktails are to die for. My favorite was a 2 layer cherry concoction that was topped with an egg white foam and glittered edible flower! The on property restaurant Hearth 61 serves up fresh farm to table cuisine with an open kitchen concept and some of the tastiest caramelized banana/pistachio/ricotta pancakes I’ve ever had. The bar food menu isn’t too shabby either so add this to your happy hour list. This summer Mountain Shadows is offering incredible staycation rates so do yourself a favor and book a room for a weekend of relaxation and fun in the sun!
