With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I’ve had quite a few requests asking for the most romantic spot in town to take your sweetie. Well, in a city filled with thousands of fabulous dining options- I’m narrowing it down to a few of my classically romantic favorites starting with Uncle Sal’s Italian Restaurant in Scottsdale where you could easily recreate the spaghetti kissing scene from Lady and the Tramp with that special someone. If you are looking for the most authentic Italian cuisine in town I highly suggest a visit to Uncle Sal’s-it’s no wonder they have been a valley landmark since 1988. Now, the history of Uncle Sal’s is about as interesting and charming as the quality food they serve- complete with the dimly lit authentic mob ambiance, Frank Sinatra background music, and rich Italian family history. Speaking of history- ask your waiter to tell you the Sammy the Bull mob connection to the restaurant!
Now, when it comes to the food, my favorite dining room dishes include the seafood cioppino ($30), braised short ribs ($22), and the classic fettuccine alfredo ($15.) The drinks served at the friendly neighborhood bar are incredible too and you can’t go wrong with seat in the bar area and specially designed bar menu including their NY Steak ($12), Various pizzas ($9-$15), cold sandwiches and hot subs ($8-$9), and my favorite…sautéed artichoke hearts ($5). A word to the wise, come early- the bar is the place to be after 5:00pm! With so many options to choose from- even the pickiest eaters will enjoy Uncle Sal’s.
