I love a good date night. However, we tend to get stuck in our ways of going to the same five restaurants within close proximity of our house and aim to be back home by 7:00 PM to tuck the little monkey in to bed so when the opportunity to go on a date in downtown Phoenix past 10PM presented itself, I was pretty skeptical. Boy, am I glad we gave it a try. Our evening started at Copper Blues, a trendy restaurant/bar in downtown Phoenix at the Cityscape center catering to a mix of casual hipsters, after work colleagues that need a drink, and couples on date nights like ourselves. An interesting mix that somehow works perfectly at Copper Blues. I was so impressed with what downtown has turned into- even the parking wasn’t too bad. I loved every minute of our time at Copper Blues from the live acoustic music during happy hour to the homemade beer cheese sauce smothered over pretzels and lobster mac to the relaxed cocktail fueled atmosphere and the friendly attentive staff. Seriously, this place has something for everyone. The second half of our evening was nothing short of extreme amusement. We moved over to Stand Up Live comedy club for an evening of unexpected belly laughs and some of the best stand up talent I’ve ever heard. Seriously, we were crying from laughing so hard- the 4 performers including headliner Mark Normand were hilarious with just the right mix of slightly uncomfortable, envelope-pushing, adult only humor. Leave the kids at home for this one. The talent that Stand Up Live brings in from all over the country features impressive resumes such as performers from The Amy Schumer Show, Comedy Central, and Chelsea Lately. We had a blast and didn’t get home until 11PM! I highly suggest repeating this exact date with your honey- we can’t wait to go back and experience the Copper Blues and Stand Up Live combo again. You know it has to be amazing if I’m recommending anything that lasts until 11PM!
