If you haven’t been to The Baked Bear in Scottsdale, I will assume that you’re lost in the Himalayas or living under a rock somewhere without social media. When Baked Bear opened this summer, I thought “meh, another ice cream shop in the desert”. Boy was I wrong. Kids, this is not your ordinary ice cream parlor and there aren’t many rules when placing your order. Sure, there are toppings and various flavors of in house made ice cream to choose from but here’s the kicker: They make everything into a custom designed by you ice cream sandwich. Pick 2 of your favorite fresh baked super soft cookies (or brownies) to layer any flavor of frozen goodness in between- my ice cream pick is the shop’s signature electric blue hued BAKED BEAR loaded with brownie bits and calories but if you opt for the classic chocolate chip cookies with vanilla in the middle that’s a sure bet. If you want to get cray cray, pick a topping to roll the whole darn thing in. Fruity Pebbles, Nuts, Oreos, Sprinkles, etc. The icing on the cake…I mean sandwich can be literal with carmel or fudge but when your sweet treat gets warmed up-that’s when the magic happens. I know what you’re thinking, warming up ice cream? Its true- The Baked Bear has mastered the art of warming up the cookies without melting the ice cream. Just trust me on this one, you really should make it a Summer priority to visit The Baked Bear located on Shea and Scottsdale Rd. and since we basically live on the surface of the sun, consider this a form on sweet sweet air conditioning.
