I’ve been asked at least a dozen times this week “Where is the best place to celebrate the Kentucky Derby?” My go to answer: The Fairmont Princess Scottsdale. Amazing people watching aside, this is one of the best parties in town to see and be seen at. From the incredible tailored mens suits to the garden party dresses and of course the drop dead incredible hats, this event is a not to miss in my book. I’m even cutting a vacation short to make sure I’m back in time to walk the red carpet, indulge in a few mint juleps, and stuff my face with a calorie free southern style lunch including fried chicken, oyster sliders, and red velvet cake. I guess I should mention the “fastest 2 minutes in sports” but horse racing/animal cruelty really isn’t my thing. I’d rather watch the fashion, partake in the bourbon bars and lawn games, and hit up the photo booth-but if you’re into the race itself they will broadcast the spectecle live on giant plasma screens at Bourbon Steak, the Fairmont’s signature steakhouse where I’ve frequently spotted Tim Tebow when he’s in town. Tickets are $95 per person and I suggest you giddy on up and snag your ticket now before they sell out. Bottoms up!
